Professional Biography
As a geoscientist, I have been involved in research and teaching in geology and geography for almost 40 years. Today, I design competency-based teaching materials for geography and geoscience curricula teaching. My focus lies on identifying learners' and teachers' persistent everyday (mis-)conceptions of geoscience issues which obstruct their learning towards a correct understanding of today's environmental problems. To improve the effectiveness of teaching, I then devise learning environments based on empirical learning research which are conducive to bringing about a sustainable change in learners' insight into environmental issues.
